No Go Club on March 23 and March 30

Club will not be meeting in its usual place on the Saturdays of March 23 and March 30 as we will be at different events in the Nashville area teaching go and trying to gain exposure. You are still free to join us at these events but we will not be at our usual spot.

March 23:
We will be at a panel at the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival. The festival will go from 10am to 4pm that day. Entry is free minus parking costs. Check their website if you want to join us or enjoy the other features of the festival. Click here for a list of the vendors that will be at the festival and click here for the schedule.

March 30:
We will be teaching at the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention all weekend. Stop by if you want to learn how to play, or even if you’ve played before and just want some casual games! Click here for the unofficial schedule and here for a list of panels at the convention.

Atlanta Tournament Results

Shawn – 3-0, 1st place in the 4d-2k division
Seth – 2-1, 3rd place in the 4d-2k division

Dalan – 1-2

Thanks to Dalan for letting us hang at his house and coming with us to the go salon.

Atlanta Tournament December 1, 2012

There is going to be a go tournament in Atlanta, GA on December 1st, 2012. If you are interested in more information then contact Shawn Ray via the contact us page as soon as possible as we will be carpooling and renting a hotel and we need a headcount as soon as possible.

For those who are not going, this means that go club will be cancelled for December 1st, and will resume as normal December 8th.

The weekend of Sept. 15th, Go Club is cancelled as the usual members will be in lebanon for Shawn Ray’s Birthday party. All are welcome to attend, but it is not a go club event. The location is at a park in Lebanon and they will meet at noon. Contact Shawn for directions.

The weekend of the 23rd the regulars are all going out of state to NC for a tournament. If interested, you will split gas/hotel cost and pay your own entrance fee and food cost. Contact Shawn if interested.

The weekend of the 29th, there is a tournament held at our very own Go Club location, Fulin’s! You are welcome to attend or just come watch. But the regulars will be playing so we will not have normal club activities. Go club should resume again as normal the first weekend of Oct.

MTAC, A Great Success

Tucked away in the analog game room, sharing space with activities such as board games and card games, one might have expected the Into and Advanced Go panels to go relatively unnoticed. In fact, throughout the course of the day, nearly 100 people came through to learn the rules of our favorite game. Many stayed to play game after game, until the last of us had to kick them off to take the boards home at 3 in the morning.

Many thanks to everyone who came out and to all of those that joined us. Hope to be seeing some of you at club in the coming weeks.

Mid TN Go Club attends MTAC

The Mid TN Go Club will NOT be meeting at Fulin’s this Saturday. We have been invited to the Middle TN Anime Convention (MTAC) to introduce/teach go to interested participants. Please feel free to come out and support us:

Introduction to Go panel will be held from 11:30 to 12:30 and an Advanced Go Panel will be held at 5 pm to build off the introductory panel. Both panels will be held in the Analog Gaming room where members will be stationed throughout the day to teach/play anyone interested.

Thanks for everyone that came out on the 19th for Nashville’s first Go tournament. There was a very nice turnout of 18 players including 5 from our club and James who was visiting from Alabama. Congratulations to Shawn and Alex for moving on to this coming weekend’s finals. Many thanks to Andy Liu and John Wang for hosting and sponsoring this event as well as Anna Liu and Yang Chen for their help with running things.

Good news for our club, with the generous offer from Andy Liu and Fulin’s restaurant (782 Old Hickory Blvd # 115, Brentwood, TN 37027), we will be moving club meetings there beginning this Saturday (12/3) at noon.

For anyone interested in attending, the final 8 will be playing that morning also at Fulin’s beginning at 10 am so feel free to stop by.

Nashville Tournament (November 19)

There will be a tournament held by the Chinese community of Nashville on November 19, 2011. This event will NOT be an AGA rated tournament, but as far as I know is open to all levels and free to enter. Prizes include $300 top prize.
